Fifty Shades Of Grey star Dakota Johnson is now single.
The 25-year-old actress has split from boyfriend Matthew Hitt, according to US Weekly, just as her erotic film has smashed box office records.
And her new found fame and success could be the culprit for the breakup as a source told the publication: ‘Her life was getting too crazy and it wasn’t something that he wanted to be a part of.’
The former couple had been dating for about six months and were last photographed together in New York in December.
Since then, Johnson has been on a whirlwind tour of the world promoting Fifty Shades Of Grey leaving little time for a personal life.
She arrived in Los Angeles on Thursday in preparation for being one of the celebrity presenters at the Oscars on Sunday.
In an interview in Vogue in January, the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith said starring in Fifty Shades Of Grey and the hype surrounding the release of the erotic movie has been overwhelming.
‘It’s just the most insane thing to be a part of,’ Dakota said. ‘I’ve never experienced anything like this; I don’t think anyone has. It’s terrifying—and it’s exciting.’
At the time of the Vogue interview, Johnson, who got her breakthrough role with a cameo in The Social Network, was still stepping out with her musician beau.
Hitt, who was born in Wales, is the lead vocalist and guitarist for indie rock band Drowners which he formed after moving to New York in 2011.
He is also a model and has appeared in campaigns for Gucci, All Saints and Band Of Outsiders.
